Meet Our Providers
Harriette S. Perlstein, M.D., F.A.A.P.
Dr. Perlstein grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. She received her A.B. from Harvard University in 1978 and her M.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1982. Her pediatric residency training was completed at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio in 1985. Dr. Perlstein moved to Atlanta in 1988 and has been in pediatric practice in the north Atlanta area since then. In 1998, Dr. Perlstein joined Dr. Dewling in practice at The Emory Clinic and as Instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University. She and Dr. Dewling founded Johns Creek Pediatrics in 2001. Dr. Perlstein has had the privilege of seeing many of her patients from birth through high school graduation and beyond. Dr. Perlstein serves on the board for The Childrens Health Network. She and her husband, an endocrinologist, have two sons. She enjoys tennis, swimming and music.
Karen Dewling, M.D., F.A.A.PPediatrician at our Cumming Location
Dr. Dewling grew up in the Baltimore, MD area. She received her M.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1990. Dr. Dewling completed internship and residency training at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1993. After four years in practice in Maryland, she relocated to Georgia in 1997 to serve as Chief of the Section of Pediatrics, The Emory Clinic and as Instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University. In 2001, she and Dr. Perlstein started Johns Creek Pediatrics. Dr. Dewling was named one of Atlanta's Top Doctors in the July 2007 issue of Atlanta Magazine, and every year since. Dr. Dewling has appeared on numerous health information spots on news programs nationwide. She also appears on CNN’s Accent Health, a health news program shown in physicians’ offices. She is a member of the Community Pediatrician Advisory Committee at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, advocating for the needs of her patients and community. She was recently selected to be a member of the Physicians Leadership Council at Childrens. Dr. Dewling is married and has a son and a daughter. She enjoys reading, yoga, horseback riding and spending time with her two golden retreivers and her family.
Jennifer R. Looby, M.D., F.A.A.P
Dr. Looby grew up in the Columbus, Ohio area. She received her BS from the University of Notre Dame in 1993 and her MD from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio in 1997. She completed her residency at The Children’s Medical Center, now Dayton Childrens in 2000. Dr. Looby was in private practice with a large pediatric group in Ohio for nearly seven years before relocating to the north Atlanta area in March of 2007. She is married with three children. She enjoys gardening, cooking, decorating, and spending time with her family.
Jennifer Santorum, M.D., F.A.A.P.
Dr. Santorum grew up in upstate New York. She received her B.S. from Furman University, in Greenville, SC, and her M.D. from USC School of Medicine in Columbia, SC in 2007. She has been practicing in the Atlanta area since she completed her pediatric residency training at Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center in Greenville, SC in 2010. She loves building relationships with her patients and their families and partnering with parents as they help their children navigate life and grow into healthy young men and women. Dr. Santorum lives with her husband, two daughters and her son. Her favorite activity by far, is spending time with her family. She also likes to travel, read historical fiction, experiment with new recipes in the kitchen and paint.
Tara Mitchell, D.O.
Dr. Mitchell is originally from southern WV. She completed her BS in biology in 2001 at Milligan College in Milligan College, TN. She then went back to WV, completing medical training at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicinein 2001. Dr. Mitchell's pediatric residency was completed in Johnson City, TN at East Tennessee State University.For the last 10 years Dr. Mitchell has had the privilege of helping families in her hometown of Princeton, WV to live healthier lives and guiding them in times of illness. She received the honor of being voted #1 pediatrician in the local readers choice awards. Dr. Mitchell moved with her husband and 2 children to GA mid-May of 2018. She is looking forward to serving families in the local area. In her spare time Dr. Mitchell enjoys traveling, skiing and painting.
Laura Hobbs, Nurse Practitioner, MSN, CPNP
Laura Hobbs recently moved to Georgia in 2012. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Oklahoma. She started her nursing career in Indianapolis, Indiana where she was an Orthopedic Nurse, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, and Pediatric ER nurse. She obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing in 2012 from Indiana University in Pediatric Primary Care. Since moving to Georgia, she has worked in both primary care and emergency room settings as a nurse practitioner. She is currently the secretary of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Association, Georgia Chapter. She and her husband enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling, attending sporting events and cheering for their favorite team, the Oklahoma Sooners.
Samantha Calleiro, Nurse Practitioner, MSN, CPNP
Sammi grew up in Lilburn, Georgia, and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Medical College of Georgia. After beginning her nursing career at the Emergency Department at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Sammi completed her Masters of Science in Nursing at the University of Alabama Birmingham in 2014. Prior to coming to Johns Creek Pediatrics, Sammi practiced at another local primary care pediatric office where she excelled in preforming well child checks and acute sick visits. Sammi is a member of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Sammi and her husband live in Roswell and enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, kayaking, fishing, and spoiling their nieces and nephews. Sammi also loves cheering for the University of Georgia Bulldogs. Go Dawgs!
Kristen Patrick, M.D.
Dr. Patrick is originally from Merritt Island, FL. She attended the University of Florida where she received a B.S in Exercise Physiology, and then received her MD from Florida Atlantic University in south Florida. She completed her pediatric residency in Columbia, SC at Palmetto Health Children's Hospital, affiliated with the University of South Carolina in June 2019. She recently moved to Alpharetta with her fiancé, and is excited to join the John's Creek Pediatrics team. She believes it is a privilege to work with patients and their families, and she particularly enjoys the preventative medicine aspect of pediatrics. In her free time she enjoys working out, paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking and experimenting with new recipes.
