After Hours Emergencies
In the event of a life-threatening emergency, call 911. One of our physicians is always available after hours for emergency calls. Just call our office phone number – (770) 814-1160. Your call will be answered by our answering service and transferred to the triage nurse. Many routine illness and injury questions can be handled by the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta nurses, who triage our after hours calls. They use established protocols to determine if your child needs to be seen urgently and can direct you to the appropriate facility. Sometimes they provide home instructions and sometimes they page the on-call doctor for further advice. In some instances, you may feel that you need to speak to the physician on call directly. Just ask the answering service to page the on-call doctor, if necessary. It is important to us to be available to you when you are worried. Non-urgent calls should be placed during regular business hours. Transcripts of all triage nurse phone calls and discharge summary sheets from the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta immediate care and the emergency room are faxed to our office and reviewed the next business day. Often, one of our staff will call you if follow-up is needed. Please call us to schedule follow-up appointments if you do not hear from us.

A word about adolescent healthcare:
Teen patients are welcome in our practice. Pediatricians receive specific training in adolescent medicine and are in a perfect position to guide your teen (and you!) through any rough spots. We address your growing adolescent’s specific health and psychological needs. Plan to have your teen’s annual physical with us and we can complete all required school and athletic participation forms for you. We do so much more than can be accomplished in the setting of a high school gymnasium.

We recommend routine adolescent vaccinations for tetanus, pertussis, meningitis, hepatitis A, and for girls, HPV. We will be sure to discuss this with you at your well visit.

Immunization
Your child's health depends on having regular health visits and protecting your baby from harmful illness by immunization. The chart below shows when you should scedule visits and immunizations We recommend annual well child checks starting at age two and through the adolescent years.
